Shodhana means cleansing. Panchakarma, Ayurveda’s five classical cleansing procedures, is designed to clear accumulated toxins (ama) and restore balance to body and mind. At Layam, every stage is planned and supervised by our doctors, who choose the procedures, diet and duration to suit your body and your health goals.
Panchakarma is a medical process, not a spa treatment. It begins with a detailed consultation and runs in three stages: preparation (Purvakarma), the main cleansing (Pradhanakarma) and recovery (Paschatkarma). Your doctor sees you daily, adjusts your plan as your body responds, and decides which cleansing procedures are right for you.

Your doctor will recommend the right length after your consultation.
A quiet, disciplined stay. Rest, a simple prescribed diet and following your doctor’s advice are essential. Some days you may feel tired as the body cleanses; this is normal and closely monitored. You leave with a diet and lifestyle plan to keep the results going.

Seven days allows a focused cleanse. A complete classical Panchakarma usually needs 14 to 21 days. Your doctor will advise what suits you.
Not necessarily. Your doctor chooses the procedures your body needs. Many guests have two or three.
Bring your prescriptions and reports. Our doctor reviews them and advises before treatment begins.
Your final treatment plan is set by your Layam doctor after consultation.
